Museum

The Museum of the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan presents exhibitions on the modern history of independent Kazakhstan through the lens of the institution of the presidency.

Here you can see unique documentary and material artefacts from the personal archives, libraries and belongings of the Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, diplomatic gifts from heads of foreign states and international organizations, gifts from the citizens of Kazakhstan and other historical relics brought together in one space.

For example, the bladed weapons section displays an original ancient Hunnic sword; a fragment of the sabre presented to Abylai Khan by the Russian Empress Elizabeth I in 1758; and a copy of the sabre of the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. A special place is given to the collection of state and international awards, which traces the history of Kazakhstan's recognition as a state and its diplomatic ties. On display are the highest distinction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the "Altyn Qyran" order, the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum from Emperor Akihito of Japan, Italy's highest state award — the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, and others.

A separate exhibition complex is devoted to the symbols of the institution of the presidency, among them the Standard of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan from the Akorda residence, the official symbol and insignia of the Head of State. One of the halls features the desk of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan from the first residence — a memorial object directly connected with the formation of the presidency and the first years of the country's independence.

A significant part of the museum collection consists of sports trophies and personal belongings of outstanding Kazakhstani athletes: Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov, the first Kazakh Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling; Vladimir Smirnov, the first Olympic champion of independent Kazakhstan; the legendary Kazakhstani boxer Gennady Golovkin; the renowned Kazakhstani gymnast and World and Asian Championship medallist Aliya Yussupova; Olympic cycling champion Alexander Vinokurov; Zhanibek Alimkhanuly, one of the leading figures of modern Kazakhstani professional boxing; and other athletes whose achievements have become part of the sporting history of independent Kazakhstan.
